Team selection

Each game player may enter one Fantasy Rugby World Cup team. Each team must consist of 15 players, made up of:

  • 3 Front rows
  • 2 Second rows
  • 3 Back rows
  • 1 Scrum half
  • 1 Fly half
  • 5 Backs

Backs include centres, wingers and full backs.

Each player has been given a Visa credit value which is fixed for the duration of the Rugby World Cup. The Visa credits you have to spend and the maximum number of players you can select from one team are limited and varies during the game rounds as follows:

Round Budget Players per team limit
Pool stage 1 85 2
Pool stage 2 85 2
Quarter finals 110 4
Semi finals 110 8
Bronze / Final 110 8

Fantasy rounds

Fantasy Rugby World Cup is divided into 5 rounds. Any changes to your team must be made before the specified deadline to be active for that round.

Round Deadline (French time)
Pool stage 1 7 Sep 20:45
Pool stage 2 19 Sep 19:45
Quarter finals 6 Oct 14:45

Captains

You must nominate a member of your team to be captain. This player will score double the number of points he would usually have been awarded that round.

You can change your captain at the bottom of the My Team page. Any changes you make to your captain will become active at the next deadline.

Transfers

You can make unlimited changes to your team by using transfers.

Any transfers you make will become active at the next deadline.

Scoring

During the Rugby World Cup, each player will be allocated a point score after each game, based on their performances in the matches.

All points are doubled from the quarter finals onwards.

For scoring a conversion 1
For missing a conversion -1
For scoring a drop goal 3

* A 'clean line break' is any clear breach of the defensive line by a single attacking player. The 'defensive line' is defined by a cordon of defensive tacklers and if an attacking player breaks and proceeds through this line without getting tackled the action represents a line break. If a player breaches the line but is tackled in the action of doing so, this does not constitute a line break. For action out wide, if an attacker is tackled by the widest defensive player at any stage this does not constitute a line break.

Leagues

Your fantasy team doesn't play matches against other fantasy teams. Instead, each fantasy team scores points based on action in Rugby World Cup matches and competes against other fantasy teams in a number of leagues.

  • The overall league involving all registered teams
  • A league for fellow managers from your country
  • A league for supporters of your favourite Rugby World Cup team (optional)
  • Private leagues with your friends and colleagues
  • A Public league with up to 50 other Fantasy Rugby World Cup players

If there is a tie in a league, the team who has made the least transfers will be placed higher.
